Who we are

Our registered office is Hsa & Co Chartered Accountants, Lewis House, Great Chesterford Court, Great Chesterford, Essex, CB10 1PF. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

What data we collect

• How you use the site – pages visited and how you move between them, measured with Google Analytics. Google Analytics only sets cookies if you accept analytics cookies. Until you choose, Google may still receive basic measurement signals without cookies (Google Consent Mode).
• Advert measurement – if you accept advertising cookies, Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and OpenAI (ChatGPT ads) can tell whether our adverts led to a quote click. If you arrived from a ChatGPT advert and accepted advertising cookies, our server also sends OpenAI a click reference, the page address, the time, your IP address and your browser type when you click a business quote button.
• Quote clicks – when you click a business quote button we record a click reference, the page you clicked from, the website that referred you (if any) and any advert codes in the link (such as utm codes or Google, Microsoft or Meta click IDs). If you arrived from one of our adverts, those advert codes are kept in your browser’s local storage for 24 hours so a later click is credited to the right advert.
• Messages you send us – if you email us, we have your email address, your name if you include it, and your message.
• Technical data – your IP address, browser and device information are processed by Cloudflare, which delivers and protects our site, and by our web server, for security and to keep the site running.

How we use your data, and our lawful basis

• To run, secure and improve the website – our legitimate interests.
• To measure which pages and adverts lead to quote requests, and to check our partners’ reports of the enquiries we sent them – our legitimate interests, and your consent where cookies or similar technologies are involved.
• To reply to messages and handle privacy requests – our legitimate interests, and our legal obligations for privacy requests.

Partner links

Our quote buttons take you to partner comparison services: Love Energy Savings (Love Business) for business energy and The Energy Shop for home energy. From that point the partner’s own privacy policy applies, and we do not see the details you enter on their site. For business quotes we send Love Energy Savings the click reference described above, and your postcode if you entered one, so they can tell us whether an enquiry that came from our site went ahead. We may receive payment from partners if you switch through them.

Who receives your data

• Cloudflare – website delivery and security, and forwarding of email sent to our contact address.
• DigitalOcean – the server that hosts our website.
• Google – Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, and the Gmail inbox where our email is delivered.
• Meta – advert measurement, only with your consent.
• OpenAI – ChatGPT advert measurement on our business pages, only with your consent.
• CookieYes – records your cookie choices.
• Love Energy Savings (Love Business) and The Energy Shop – as described under Partner links.

Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Each provider’s own privacy information explains the safeguards it uses for international transfers.

How long we keep it

• Emails you send us: kept for up to 12 months.
• Quote-click records: deleted after 24 months.
• Advert codes in your browser’s local storage: replaced after 24 hours, and you can clear them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
• Google Analytics data: kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time through the cookie settings icon on any page. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we process. All connections to our website use HTTPS.
